Holy crap, that took a long time! Have the moderators noticed a lack of new users in, say, the last 6-9 months? I have been trying to register here for about that time, every time I have registered an account and tried to post, the same generic message appears:

"Sorry, this forum is not accepting posts due to abuse earlier today. The forum is likely to stay in this mode for some hours"

Uh, yeah, "some hours" not "some months" or nearly a frigign' year! I have registered several accounts and forgotten the login names and passwords for them due to the above issue!

I have been browsing this forum unregistered for about the same time I have been trying to register. Gotta say, you Europeans do things quite differently on here. Even the econo cars are premium in some way and a lot of you seem to have a daily and a toy as well!

Anyway, sort yourselves out!

Sorry, all new registrations from the former colonies have to go to committee to see if you're able to handle our superior European wit.

We'll get back to you in a couple of months.

Ye ha, etc, etc.

Registered, got the message, waited 3 days, emailed a couple of the contact addresses on the site, 2 days later (after the weekend) was accepted.

Sense of humour? Yup, got 1 of those.

Hello imprezzaboi 555 we're sorry that you have experienced trouble trying to post on the site. I have now updated the sites Trust status ( used to block Spam accounts) therefore allowing all new members to post.
Please do let me know though if you are still experiencing problems with the site.

Just to add to Ollie's post above, I'm afraid you're simply the victim of bad timing - we occasionally have to switch on a special "trustee" mode on PH which doesn't allow new users to post. We use this when we have outbreaks of spamming.

However, this is only ever used for short periods of time (usually a few days) - unfortunately these seem to have coincidentally aligned with the days you've tried to register.

Apologies again for any inconvenience, but please be assured that this wasn't down to any problems with our system and is a deliberate step in maintaining the quality of our forums by making life hard for spammers!

Enjoy using the forums,

JD

Quite. I'm not holding out much hope for this particular applicant either Smythe.

I think it's a sensible policy to make new members wait 30 days before posting anyway.
