GTI changing styles on desktop

My morning ritual when first using PH on the desktop is switching off the garbage GTI skin that I've been using on my mobile on the weekend.

I neglected to do so today and noticed a curiosity of behaviour. When resizing a window on the desktop there is a certain size at which the GTI skin switches to the mobile view font with the my stuff/what's new bar on the bottom.

Is this supposed to happen?

Yes that is perfectly normal. There are two variables that depict whether the Mobile version of the site is fed. Device and Screen size. Taking the window down to a size equal that of a mobile device will trigger the switch over.
