What happened this morning -
I see Bill's posted up a note saying 'and that's why we dont allow naming and shaming'
which had been a tad worrying in the thread wth soem posters trying to find out who was involved

Last night running through the history it looked as though the mileage wasn't too far out and could be explained by ECU updates though not certain
and the garage seemed to have dealt with faults as soon as they were brought to their attention.
The poster may have been adding one thing to another and coming up with more than was really there
and just needed some reassurance.
Or that's how it looked - was that the conclusion this morning?

I think something was posted on a MB forum. Perhaps you'll find more information there?

Nothing more than was on here apart from the dealers name. They don't exert the same degree of control over naming and shaming. They are still asking to see the paperwork over there, and they don't seem to have the same type of "inquisitive" posters as PH.

Me accepted of course hehe

Last I saw most had come to the conclusion that it was an error on the MB computer (90k miles after 8 months when it probably should have been 9k miles).

I don't know if the poster ever put up the history.

I would have thought it would make more sense to leave the thread up (deleting reg/namd/shame) until the OP came back with the history and proved it one way or the other. Now nobody's the wiser frown

The last I saw at about midnight was the car was showing 92k miles currently in some of the internal gubbins but that could be due to finger trouble with what looked like an ECU change early on, and 80k miles on the clock so if true not too much difference to worry about with a car that age.
The dealer had sorted a few other issues that had cropped up post sale such as frayed wires and a blown headlight bulb and when the customer said they were still unhappy gave a refund.

This was the last thing I read on a different forum:

'Thread has now been deleted on PH as the story is not quite as the OP was telling it. Paperwork shows the cars mileage currently is 92k, not when it was 9 months old, and the dealer has it advertised as 80k, so it has been clocked allegedly but not by the amount originally believed.

PH have very strict naming and shaming rules, hence the reason for deletion.'

That's what I posted on the MBClub UK forum.

I wasn't convinced the paperwork showed the mileage as 92k, just that some internal number in the car said 92k and another poster suggested that could vary from actual for a number of reasons.
So best guess is that it's done 80k unless someone finds otherwise

Blaming name&shame is silly - all names had been deleted from the thread. Some people had found the car by a quick google but I see no reason why it couldn't have been left with names/reg removed.

The dealer was being slaughtered, perhaps unnecessarily. They now have an expensive car on their forecourt which may prove hard to shift due to unproven allegations. Deletion did the person who opened the thread a favour..
