Social grumble

There seems to be a steady tricking of people away from PH forums and into other places like facebook. I just had a post removed - I guess it was because it looked like I was trying to sell my 12c. I'm fed up of PH's attitude towards some things and I for one am spending more time in my facebook car groups where you don't have to worry about the eye of sauron coming down on you for saying something they don't entirely agree with. In the meantime, I'm trying to place an ad on PH and the payment page won't allow me to complete the 11.99 payment. Whatever. I'll try again soon, maybe worldpay is down. Yours, pissed off.

I agree with you re PH mods! I had a post removed for similar "reasons". I was actually just asking about the motorbike market in general and seasonal price fluctuations.

The mods do need to relax a bit for sure.

I had the same issue when trying to complete the payment 11.99,i was using my iphone when i tried again using my laptop the payment went through :-)
By the way your love affair over with the 12C ??

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback. However, the rules of posting on PH have not changed significantly in a long time, and the mods are simply working to them. The rules generally exist to ensure PH is a pleasant community for like minded car lovers. In combination with this they're also designed to prevent the forums becoming flooded with certain types of threads - such as endless "car for sale" or "I'm doing something for charity so please sponsor me" threads. If we did allow these to build up we'd see a sharp decline in our traffic as people would get fed up with sifting through them in the search for content that interests them.

So, in short I'm sorry you've had a run in with a Mod, but the rules (and the mods) are all long established and purely acting in the best intentions of PH.

It's brilliant but I want a convertible in a stupid colour so now that I'm well and truly smitten on the brand, I'm thinking 650 or if I can stretch to it (and get hold of one) 675. Dont see me getting back into a Ferrari for a while...unless I see a crazy deal that I can't say not to :-)

It is brand new - it was only released on Thursday. It is a way for us to give a definitive PH answer / make an official comment on a thread and it be noticed (often when we do reply "officially" the posts can be over looked and lost amongst the other comments.

Makes sense, but you have long standing members with high levels of interaction. You need to work harder on finding the right balance. With respect, the lazy approach (cull anything that smells like an ad) has consequences and I can already see that there is way more activity on social media outside of PH where the this sort of axe wielding doesn't have a part to play and where, by and large, the conversations are self-policing.

In the meantime - I still can't pay your fee to place my ad? What's wrong? Is it you or worldpay?

I actually agree, and we're working on ways of improving the moderation of the site. I should add, this is in no way a slight on our mods - they are all volunteers who spend a vast amount of time working on PH and have all shaped what PH is. However, there is only so much we can expect them to do, especially given the rather poor tools that they currently have to carry out the moderation (the back end of the site isn't as good as it could be).

Anyway, we will take the criticism / feedback on board and keep working towards improving.

With regards to world pay... I'm not sure - I'll find out!
