Just curious really. Just spotted someone who has the hallmarks (in my eyes) or a returning banee. Does it matter?

Mods have various tools to ID returnees, though member's knowledge also helps, report 'em if you want to .

It sounds like it doesn't really matter, unless they are creating a problem post-return. Right?

Personally, I tend to the view that it's no skin off my nose, unless I had something to do with the ban, or I have a run in with the returning banee.

So perhaps we'll see!

Removing people just because they seem like a previously banned user won't happen.

More clicks = more cash for the site's owners. smile

Wrong, we check every new member with the tools we have available, some get through a lot don't. smile

All you have is the users IP address. So if the person re-registers from an IP already in the database for another user, it may be the same person.

I think it's partly that nobody is that bothered and partly due to the lack of some kind of Mod 'shared memory'.

Most banees want others to know 'they are back' and make a few cryptic remarks that an attentive mod would pick up on and investigate.

Some of them don't, in my experience.

I'd guess that if someone behaves like enough of an idiot to get banned once, there's a pretty good chance they will do the same if they come back again.
