Every morning when I first look up Pistonheads my PC freezes for something approaching a minute. This appears to happen while 'waiting for lots of st to infect my computer' messages appear in the bottom left corner of the screen. By this I mean all those ad sites that PH pushes on us even though we're not interested in what they want to sell us.

I usually go and make a coffee while I wait for the browser/computer to respond again. After the initial waiting game I can dip in and out of PH all day without the computer acting up or running slow.

For information I'm using; Firefox (latest version 46?), Windows 7 and get my broad band via BT business hub 5. My PC is always powered down overnight.

I don't see any of these problems when browsing the other websites I use regularly e.g. the BBC.

So what's happening and is there a solution?

Ad Block is the easiest solution unfortunately, it's likely caused by as you say the wait for the ads to load, ad block cures this.

Well I took a simpler approach and got rid of my bookmark to the PH front page and made one direct to the gassing station. No more freezing but that means I won't visiting the front page to avoid all the issues of freezing the PC while it loads all the advertising sites.
