[ANSWERED] We want Puma back aka Dave Baker and his friends.
Discussion
I've been chatting to someone else about this and i'd like to make a suggestion if I may: We create two sections: Engine advanced and Engine general (or something similar).
The problem is we have DIYers and Pros, the Pros can sometimes be offended by the actions of the DIYers and vice-versa, If we could separate the two then it may be a bit more harmonious.
The only problem I can see is having a Mod with enough technical knowledge to be able to differentiate between the two as it could prove to be a difficult line to draw....

What's more frustrating is that if anyone read the original thread then I bet more than half of them were thinking exactly what Puma wrote.
I certainly was.
I don't believe yet another forum is required or would even benefit.
Perhaps PH Posting Rule No. 1 should be:
"You are expected to converse in at least GCSE level English. Txt spk wont be tolr8ted. Poor grammar will almost always be rewarded with insinuations about you're [sic] intelligence."
That should fix it.
He'll be a massive loss to PH if he's gone for good.

That's disappointing, he truly is a font of knowledge. I didn't see the thread that sparked this, but I can probably imagine how it went. It's a shame that people like him that have a bit of spark get banned for (presumably) upsetting some fanny.
PH becomes a poorer, blander place much like everything else in the sanitised world we live in these days.
PH=beige

In the thread linked from the oil seal one - which is now closed - and which is claimed to be the one which is the cause of the ban would I be right in thinking that a post from the OP of that thread has been deleted?
Appears to be the case as it goes from pr commenting on the weird first post to pr's 'Is it cos I is black' post with nothing in between & doesn't tally with the OP's post count. Without whatever may have been deleted the context of that reply is lost & could be entirely misconstrued as a a racist comment.
If the post that produced that response was deleted by the OP then - as with many threads that have had similar deletions on this & other forums - then the entire thread becomes unintelligible & I have concerns about the imposition of bans on posters.
Removing such a thread in its entirety may be a better course of action.

What was he banned for?
Surely for not making the light hearted comment mentioned earlier?
He has helped out lots of members and is the sort of person who should be encouraged and thanked for posting, not banned.
Not sure if whoever banned him knows but he does know his s
t. He has forgotten more about engines than a lot of people will ever know and is happy to share. The better type of forum member surely?
Yet the mods are more than happy to let the idiots who just like to argue and belittle people keep posting pointless replies just to annoy others.
What kind of moderation goes on here? Its a crock of s
t and needs sorting out quickly!

If he's let back in; I'm going!

You might want to clarify what you mean there, whether serious or sarcasm, because that and your other post are meaningless to me and no doubt many others.

This is what I said as a result of learning of the ban (in the thread you contributed to, including after this post so you presumably were aware of the context):

Yep one less reason to look in - grumpy and opinionated but knowledgeable and generous in sharing that knowledge (if ill-suffering of fools). Entertaining, irritating, and educative by turns; always a poster to watch out for.
Good work HM; one step closer to the anodyne mediocrity that is clearly craved - perhaps you can pop another advert in the vacant bandwidth? rolleyes
I think it's perfectly clear what I was getting at but can spell it out in even simpler terms if needs be; might use invective a little stronger than 'dGood work HM; one step closer to the anodyne mediocrity that is clearly craved - perhaps you can pop another advert in the vacant bandwidth? rolleyes
