Didn't you say that approximately 12 months ago James Drake? How long exactly does it take to "work on a solution"?
No, it was more like 13 months ago I think! Sadly I don't personally implement the technical aspects of the site. Much like you I can make suggestions and influence the way things go, but our product teams need to balance the resources at their disposal against the urgency of the problem and then balance everything against our business objectives. In actual fact we more or less have a solution, but the time needed to influence it (even though it probably isn't much) balanced against the impact it has on the user experience just means that it isn't near the top of the pile I'm afraid.
Believe me, I'd like it to be introduced too but on the flip side when you take a step back from it having less new threads visible on the opening page of GG and therefor having to click to the next page a bit sooner isn't really the end of the world.
Thanks for taking the time to comment though - I appreciate that you're just keen for things to progress faster as you're passionate about the site.
Best wishes

What a load of old piffle! Have you recently been on a team-building course James? Perhaps we should touch base with some 360 degree blue sky thinking and then go forwards together on this issue?
This is PH forums you are speaking on, not a Haymarket management meeting!
Huh? Which bit do you mean? I've just re read it all and all I've done is explain the procedure for getting stuff done.

If you don't like that... well it is tough luck really because that's the way it is.

Perhaps if you had less "product teams" trying to balance the myriad of "business objectives" and instead perhaps, you know, just focused on fixing stuff without everything requiring a lengthy consultation meeting or whatever it is you do then these things wouldn't become issues in the first place.
Or you could just cut the corporate waffle and just tell us "nope, losing the promoted ads is never gonna happen so deal with it", which is what your reply boils down to.

Unfortunately I'm not in a position to restructure the business. I'd like some of the minor stuff fixed too, but hey ho, I can't have everything my own way.

I'm still not sure which bit you think it corporate waffle. It isn't like I "ran anything up the flag pole to make sure we were all singing from the same hymn sheet" in my reply. All I did was explain the process... but anyway, given what you're saying about losing the promoted ads I'm not sure you read it as that's definitely not what I just said.
As I say though, I appreciate that - given the amount of time you spend on our site and the number of posts you've made - you obviously love PistonHeads and clearly just want to see it improve wherever possible.
