Do we have the ability to block people from reading our threads/replys?

Got the same people coming onto my threads and just bhing about me frankly as they dont agree with what I do in regards to my car choices/projects. Getting really sick of it as it has been a few months now whenever the thread gets a update they spew ste again.

If we cant block them - can we get the ability?

I feel your pain but I think thats always the problem with posting on public forums. You don't get to decide who can see it or post in it.

Pros and cons unfortunately.

Report to Mods, they should ban the users.

Effing hell, just another pointless post from the OP. Just kidding but I can see where you're coming from. There are some real dickbrains on this forum these days.

After a quick search, I'm not seeing anything worthy of a "victim" card... link?

That would be unusual, what is more common is an "ignore" feature so you can't see what they post (unless it's been quoted).

The PH forum software is so prehistoric that I doubt it would be easy, quick or cheap to add it though.

Just ignore it.

You're young like me. An awful lot of posters on here do not like youngsters driving around in cars. We are terrible drivers, inexperienced, shouldn't be on the road, and our car and career choices are routinely mocked by the same bunch of grumpy old men who have made a lot of money and look down on young people with considerable spite, for no apparent reason.

It's not unreasonable to request an ignore poster button. Many times I have wished for one. Not sure why Haymarket doesn't just use one of the many, powerful and fully featured forum distributions instead of rolling their own. HTTPS would be easy then too.

Unfortunately there is no block function. If you have a problem with a user then report it to the mods and they will decide what action to take, whether that be a ban or a simple slap on the wrist.

Thanks!

I think people should take this forum for what it is - a place where people can freely express their opinions on a massive variety of subjects. I don't really understand why people get so angry about it.

I'd agree with that. It is easy enough to just ignore the dribblers and focus on those that act rationally - still in the majority in most of PH.

Problem is, not everyone can do that.

So a minority of angry knobbers end up derailing threads that other people were enjoying. I've lost count of the number of times I've dipped into a good thread and thought "Oh God, <poster X> has arrived" and just ducked out.

Funny how Slow makes this post, and one of the people he's referring to, pops up in the thread.

Just a coincidence though, and a certain PH'er is in no way following him about rolleyes
