I know I'm not the only one to hold this opiniom but the car buying forum is a complete nonsense.

I don't know which half-wit thought it would be a good idea to corral a load of good treads into a forum that is as busy as a graveyard. Not only does it limit the exposure of good threads to a wider audience, it has also led to a decrease in the diversity of discussion in general gassing. This result is good neither for the useful and interesting threads that are banished to the car buying forum, nor the quality of general gassing, which has for a number of reasons, become increasingly banal of late.

In a word no, as the saying goes you can't please all of the members all of the time.

We've had literally hundred of requests over many years for the GG forum to be cleaned of What Car/ Car Buying threads, so that was undertaken and a separate forum was set up for the multitude of members that requested it.

If you don't like the forum then don't read it.

I dislike the forum but I like the threads. However, I seem to be the only one who does read the threads.

Are there "a load of good t(h)reads" there, or is it "as busy as a graveyard"? Surely can't be both, can it?

Not from what I can see, there appear to be many members that are using the thread on a daily basis, and have done since the forum was introduced.

Currently into it's 49 pages, comprising of 16K + posts!

I sort of understand OP's view in that Car Buying is the last forum in the table. Perhaps if it was placed directly under GG then it may get more attention - given the drop-off in the forums above Car Buying I can understand the issue when threads are on a board with over 6 million posts, and then moved to one with just over 16k - which is 0.2% of the visibility it'd have got. Maybe PH could do more to bolster Car Buying views? Just a thought

Loads of good threads that started in GG before being sent to CB to die!

But those car buying posts always died in GG, it was the exception that the OP actually came back to say what they bought.
