Not sure if this related to only the Gti skin change that happened recently. But for years I've been able to access the full site on an iPhone and use it just the same as on a PC. The forums that is.

Now it's a ghastly horrid looking and difficult to use mobile site that often doesn't render correctly and seems to make easy tasks difficult to achieve.

I'm also having to use Safari. As when using Chrome on an iPhone, the text editor runs in extreme slow mo and is completly unusable. By slow I mean to type 5 chars in a row you'll see the first letter highlight on the keyboard. Then wait about 5 secs for each character thereafter to appear. This only happens on PH so can't be directly iPhone related, but does seem to be Chrome not Safari doing it.

Is there a way to get to the full site from an iPhone still? Have tried Chrome request desktop site but no joy. This mobile variant is somewhat of a misery to use. Especially when the full site works perfectly fine.

Dear 300bhp/ton

It's been disabled - see thread with lots of pages discussing "welcoming you to your new look forum"

Got the same on my I phone and I'm very fed up as I can't find a way to restore the old / previous format.

I've seen others complain of text lagging on chrome/ios.
FWIW I use chrome on ios 10 with no problems, so maybe it's a setting/preference within one or either of them that causes the lag?

I had a quick glance at the thread before posting, couldn't see anything mobile mentioned in what I read, so posted.

That said, it's a pretty dumb idea, it takes programming to force you to go to a mobile version of the site. It would take no effort to have a flag to allow the user to opt to use the desktop version if they so wanted.

Ta.

I've not knowing set or changed any preferences that might impact this. Will try on my iPad later and see if I get the same result.

It's worked out OK for me - I'm now spending less time viewing the site, and getting more done elsewhere.

Making it so unpleasant to use must be some kind of service to the nation to reduce surfing and increase productivity.

Right, On an iPad Mini now, the full looking site displays. Such an improvement over the crappy mobile variant on an iPhone.

As evidently it's perfectly possible to display the site correctly on IOS, why force iPhone users to use the st version of the site?

Have also tried Chrome on my iPad, it too has MAJOR lag on the text editor. Making it unusable to reply or post on the forum. There is obviously a bug with the forum and Chrome on IOS.

I'm running latest IOS and Chrome, all updates on both iPad Mini 2 and iPhone 6 Plus.

This! I no longer read PH on my mobile.

I don't think it is "force" - I think it is simply a style sheet issue, detecting screen size and presenting the "appropriate" format.

Fwiw I find the mobile skin actually pretty good - I don't do the same things as I would at my Mac but, equally, I don't wan't to on a small device! I think this is one of the more usable mobile skins, but YMMV.

But I agree that there should be user-exercisable choice. For instance, I force desktop mode (long press on the refresh icon on Safari/IOS) with Google Images to re-enable the search-by-image functionality.

I'm no expert, but I think it's more likely something in your google/gmail settings upsetting it, assuming you synchronise across devices.
It works fine for me using either default ios keyboard or swype.

I don't know how syncing my gmail account would be the cause. And either if it was, it would still be a bug on the PH site and/or Chrome.

Any fix to this super slow iOS chrome text input yet? It only seemed to start this weekend.
