I put a bike advert under the Honda/CB section 2 days ago.

I saw the preview listing.
I received the usual e mail saying it would appear when "somebody" had checked it over (or similar wording)

It still has not appeared.

I posted a comment in the "it's now free to advertise..." discussion at the top of the Biker Banter page commenting on the non-appearance.

I also sent a reply via the link in the original acknowledgement e mail making the same comments.

Guess what?
No f******* response!

Now I do appreciate that I enjoyed the privilege of a free advert being a long standing PH member, however if the advert doesn't appear & this mythical "somebody" hasn't even had the time/nouse/wherewithall to look at the advert yet what's the point of being free?
I would have better success spending £10 on a few Euromillions Lottery tickets off my neighbour's dog for a fictitious lottery- and my neighbour doesn't even have a dog !

On the same day I submitted the PH advert I also duplicated it on Gumtree ( yes, I know you might be spitting at the idea) which not only went on the site in the due timescale but also within 24 hrs generated an offer. Inevitably it was from some a***hole in Nottingham offering a grand less including free delivery in the hope that "cash" was somewhat unusual enough to tempt me... He was given a polite reply to go forth & multiply.

Most annoyingly, I have had this identical problem on the last advert I placed, admittedly, a few years back, so I guess you have not had time for "somebody" with relevant skills to address this highly complex IT issue. I note that a few others have "enjoyed" similar experience which is, in fact, my only consolation as I was beginning to think there was a conspiratorial vendetta against anybody with the profile including the words "Sprinter" and/or "1050".
Phew, that's lucky..

So, IT bods/journos/management of PH & Haymarket generally, I really think you could extract a relevant digit from an appropriate orifice & have the decency
a) to respond to my contacts via any of the aforementioned avenues and..
b) get it b****y sorted.
Please? (note the use of polite common English phraseology which I would appreciate seeing from you)

Mods only deal with forum issues not adverts as that's considered a totally separate part of the site. You need to use the contact options within the classifieds section. Have you called the number listed next to "need help?"

Well, thank you eybic.
A response !! thumbup

If you look at the post started by you in relation to this advert business you will see that I put my comments in there, but I guees you didn't spot that.
I deliberately headed my post with "Mods" in the hope that it would elicit some/any response, so thanks at least. I was hoping that somehow, through the magic of electronics, the interweb, the ether or a simple forwarded e mail somebody might have actually passed my concerns on to a relevant department or person.

Especially since, as you will see in my above post, I had already e mailed the advert team via the link stated.

Am I expecting too much?
Why, in this day of almost everything, apart from actual sexual activity (although I believe I may be wrong about that?) should I still have to pick up a phone to ring an organisation whose principal activities occur on a keyboard, via a screen?

Well, now you've moved it we shall see how long it takes to generate a response.
Still reluctant to ring an STD number at my cost as it's not my cause.

Enjoy life.

About as much as you seem to have read my original post.
Correction. Better than you did the above.
Whoever you are.

On top of which, using that link defaults to Microsoft Mail, which I don't use, never have & don't wish to.

Jeremy is a site moderator, as moderators we have no jurisdiction regarding any of the classifieds.

I have flagged this up for you.

Ever tried typing it into your mail client instead of clicking on it?

And it's not the link or PH forcing you to use Microsoft mail, it's your own computer because you have got it set as the default mail client. You need to change it.

Jack.
Many thanks. That's the most constructive response that anyone had managed so again, thank you.
FourWheelDrift, as much as I respect your input to forums & the comments you made in the above reply it does not detract from a point I made that I had already, after 24 hrs of no action, sent an e mail to the appropriate "adverts@...." e mail address.
So at least you are not alone in ignoring that fact, whilst at the same time drawing attention to my IT incompetence. biggrin
Good job I'm patient & not vindictive with PH though but, Christ, the stuff you have to do to get action.
As it happens, before seeing your responses I had just pinged off another e mail..
Hey ho.
Cheers all.
