Increasing processor and memory usage
Discussion
Just a quick one, but today it seems that whenever I browse to PH, my CPU usage goes up to 50-60% and memory steadily increases. Only today and it happens with all PH pages. I have tested on other website and no issues elsewhere. I'm not sure whether it is a new advert or something, but it really hits the performance of my machine. It's Windows 7 IE 11.0.9.

Call me a cynic, but I wonder if this is linked to the massive and intrusive pop up ads PH now sends me when browsing on mobile that completely take me away from the site, with no option to press back to return to PH, that are trying to sell me BitCoin.
Even stranger when you consider some of the major platforms of the internet have banned the advertising of cyptocurrency....

It's a combination of the adverts PH serve on the forum threads (2 x banner ads top, 1 x banner ad bottom, 1x curtain / boxed advert on the side) and the new menu masthead at the top of the page with all the links to all the areas of the forum nobody ever clicks to go to. Made worse when sometimes the same advert loads in all 4 ad locations and if it's a particularly big, flash / script based ad it takes ages to load, stops pages responding, and massively increases memory usage.
It first started being a problem when PH made some changes last year, and i found it started up again last week when PH reintroduced the interactive drop down menu which they'd previously removed last year after some not very successful testing.
The only way of stopping it completely, is to install a decent adblocker, as it's been made clear on a couple of other recent threads on here that Haymarket have no intention of changing the current setup and wont be diverting any more resources into improving the forum.

I got a warning message / page block on here the other day (on a non adblock enabled cpu), via my antivirus, saying that access to a page had been blocked due to a malicious script on the page - i can't remember the exact script but it was specifically related to a bitcoin mining script.
Bearing in mind this was one of the first threads I clicked on after logging into the site, clean boot with no cookies from other sites yet set, so I assume PH's preferred advertising people have allowed a dodgy advert through that contained a bitcoin mining script in it. Fairly sure that sort of thing would also account for a massive increase in processor usage if it did slip through.
I've decided to stay off PH now until i know i can access via Chrome with adblocker enabled. Memory usage barely hits 10-15% vs the 75-99% that i've seen before in IE / other browsers when no adblocking is running.
