Quite some time ago I was banned from the football forum for disagreeing with a Chelsea fan who didn't think they'd spent huge amounts of money in order to gain their modern day success. Chelsea have spent a fortune thanks to Abramovich, so I felt I was justified in my opinion.

It was literally 2 posts AFAIR. There was no swearing, name calling or nastiness involved and I was really surprised by the ban.

I assumed it was a temporary one because the message I see alludes to my being allowed to return at some point.

It reads:-

"Please go and stand in the corner until you've learned to play nicely with the other children.

You will not be allowed back into this forum until the teacher calls you".

So I was happy to take my medicine and wait to be reinstated but it hasn't happened.

Now that season is drawing to a close it would be great to able to contribute once again.

I'll be on my best behaviour. Scouts honour.

That's absolutely ridiculous.

No wonder people moan about this site. I assumed the person I crossed swords with was a mod and he's just abused his power.

I see far worse manners and language on here EVERY SINGLE DAY.

+1. I've never been banned but some of the stories I've read are laughable. Certain mods love a power trip. Even the tone of the email which "bans" you is supercilious and condescending.

The racism, sexism, foul language, trolling bigotry and insults I see traded on here without fail every single day don't register apparently.

And don't get me started on people with more than one account. And banned members returning and posting the exact same stuff that got them banned in first place. They even take the piss out of the mods/site by naming their new accounts to mimic other existing members.

Yet I quietly serve a few months punishment and politely ask to be reinstated because my team has reached the champions league final and I'd like to discuss it with fellow fans (while causing no problems anywhere else on the site in the meantime) and I get told to do one.

Considering the size of this site, the manner in which it's run is absolutely abysmal.

I'd be embarrassed to work for Haymarket and peddle their excuses.

The moderation is (and has been for some time) inconsistent and cliquey.

Really? How so? What do you disagree with? Where have I exaggerated?

I've been perfectly eloquent and told the truth.

And I stand by comments.

Haymarket are running this site into the ground. And while I understand the mods are volunteers they don't make things better with such strange decision making. The mods could actually go quite a long way to rescuing this site if they were more considered and even handed and weeded out the obvious trolls and persistent trouble makers rather than, in this instance, banning a member who said something innocuous about their football team.

Finally, if you are going to call someone a child, it might be best not to use childish smilies yourself in the same post...

I think you are peeing into the wind unfortunately.

There is probably only one mod that I can think of who would hold up his hands and say "Yes, we might have been a bit hasty, we will let you back in"

The others seem to enjoy the power they can yield with, seemingly, no recriminations.

They were deleted on the day I was banned. That's the only reason I know what I was banned for, because my two posts on the Chelsea thread disappeared. Before that I hadn't a clue what I'd done.
