Fraudulent Activity on Pistonheads - Marcus Williamson
Discussion
Last Monday, 9th July, a post was made on this thread offering a number of tickets for sale at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed:
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
I responded to the post via the email address given offering to buy a roaming grandstand ticket for Saturday at the advertised price of £75.
I received prompt emails and it was agreed that the ticket would be posted special delivery at the cost of an additional £5.
I transferred £80 to the bank details given (a branch of Santander in Bootle, Merseyside).
Details provided to me were an email address, name and bank details.
The seller confirmed receipt of payment and promised to post the ticket. When it didn’t arrive last Wednesday I queried this, I was assured it had been posted.
The ticket never arrived, the seller is no longer responding to emails and the original post has been deleted – I have no record of the posters Pistonhead username.
Whilst the main objective of this post is to warn others not to trade with the good (!) , and suggestions on action I can take would be much appreciated.
I have sent an email to Pistonheads forum admin, but have not received a reply....

This happens a lot on different forums and there is always two sides to every story as I have seen before.
Bit childish to stick up someones bank details. its 80 quid for goodness sake.
No one is going to do full out fraud for 80 quid!
Contact your bank and next time buy tickets from a reputable place!

Can you remember if it was an established member or a newbie with sod all posts to his name?
If it's the former then there may be a good reason but if it's the latter, then you've been done I'm afraid. Let the mods know as they may be able to trace back and retrieve the thread for you (and ban the member if need be).

Fraud is still fraud, no matter how "little" the amount.
Assuming the OP's version of events is the truth, ie. the lack or correspondence from the seller and deletion of the original post, then this sounds very much like fraud.
Yes, perhaps a little naïve from the OP sending money like this, but can't blame them for being "childish" in this situation. And if nothing else, in the future someone might do a quick internet search before sending money to said Marcus and avoid the same mistake.

Accepted.I would ordinarily be more cautious but with just a few days before I needed the grandstand pass, and very few passes available for sale on thier own (i.e. without a general admission ticket which I already had) I did take a risk.
