This place used to be a tool for knowledge, now when you start a thread with a problem or issue (car related!) It automatically turns into being your fault and everyone jumps on you.

We also have pretend lawyers and people who seriously must not have a job or any hobbies as they reply to every thread instantly.

Sort it out mods, you changed the rules to supposedly remove this problem but all I've experienced is more genuine posts being deleted.

I know haymarket doesn't care but really?? You are loosing users to much better motoring outlets.

I agree with you- you post your own personal opinion and some tt will come on to tell you,
your own mind is wrong and he is right, and , of course, the same "person" earns £20000000 a year , their car does 555mpg even if the owners club figures are 32mpg , and they never make a mistake -anywhere- on the road ( in fact, they are driving gods!!!) or heaven forbids- in life!!!!!!)

I must admit, I think ( to myself if that's ok) these people are proably: Deluded, fat, insecure , and , well, just wkers!!

I was on another forum when someone suggested the op should post here to get an answer and he replied with nah pistonheads is full of wannabe millionaire bell ends.

I though he must be a member.

I see where the OP's coming from, but in some ways the "banter" on here is what separates PH from all the other forums (and facebook groups).

I'm a member of a couple of Ford forums, but they can be pretty dead at times with maybe a dozen or so posts a day. But if I ever wanted advice on, say, how to replace the window regulator on a Focus, that would be my first port of call. I might also ask on PH but would expect a fair few replies to include suggestions such as fire, frozen sausages or cans of energy drink, and so would have a chuckle at some of the wittier responses and move on to those more useful.

In many ways PH is like a community, and you get to 'know' some of the regulars on here, for better or for worse. The only alternative online communities are on facebook, which is fine, but tend to attract the "init bruv" brigade - if that's your cup of tea then go for it but I suspect (judging by the posts on here) that's not really the PH demographic.

Yawn.
Don't read posts from these "regulars who post too much"

I ran a New Beetle forum a while back and one user caused 90% of the grief on there. He was constantly abusing people and posting stupid comments, then threatening to get physical. He was suspended and banned numerous times, but came back under different names, although it soon became obvious who it was.
One day we were taking names for a club stand at an upcoming show and he put his name down. We weren't expecting him to show, but if he did, we were going to have it out with him. So, on the day his car arrived on the stand and out got a scrawny, long greasy haired chap with one leg. After introducing myself, I asked why he caused such grief. He said he got bored sat at home all day and just liked to wind people up for something to do. Same applies to a lot of people on here I think.

About ten years ago on another board I seemed to be the target of what at first I took to be banter but looking back was nothing less than bullying, anyway to cut a long story short it became threats of violence.

By chance I ended up speaking to someone who used the same forum , I told him about the abuse I’d been getting by pm from a certain poster .

I ended up meeting the poster involved and introduced myself by my board name , I’ve never seen someone shrink so quickly, funnily enough he used the bored at home line to excuse his antics , never heard another peep out of him.

Don’t type anything on any forum that you wouldn’t say face to face , simple as .
