What's the current etiquette if one spots a banned troll posting under a new pseudonym, or even multiple new id's ?

1) ignore and wait till it outs itself and gets banned again?

2) report it ?

3) other options

you need to be really really sure people have been removed from threads for getting it wrong in NP&E

3. Other options.

Give us a few hints so we can work out who it is before this thread gets pulled.

Be discreet though.

Well maybe the best thing to do is report it then.....or do nothing.

Whilst members do report suspected returnees it's sometimes not that easy to PROVE a link, if we do we re-ban.

Other than that it's a waiting game until we find a link. smile

That doesn't answer what the right thing to do is.

Perhaps it's to wait and see if there's been a change to acceptable conduct on the troll's part. That might be the most charitable option.

Okay understood.

What's the attitude to 'rehabilitation'? ie if the returnee exhibits no sign of previous offending behaviour? Or is returning whilst banned a ban offence in itself?

Wouldn't that be a 3) ?

Ah.

So if one were to spot a returning bannee whistle, and hypothetically they decided to report said bannee whistle, it would be better for you if in the little message box (which I've heard exists whistle) some explanation was given as to how it had been concluded that the person was, in fact, a returning bannee. whistle

Such as them having a fascination with CVH engines.

Or being endlessly argumentative and appearing to know about IFA type stuff.

For example. whistle

Hypothetically. whistle

As we treat banning as a last resort, we don't usually get into any rehab, as they must have pushed the boundaries too far the last time around.

If the returnee exhibits no sign of offending behaviour, how would you even know they are a banned returnee rather than an innocent newbie?

Tbh , I can't envisage any scenario where I'd use the report button.
