Hi all,

Many of you will have noticed this morning that the site had a bit of a lay in... At around 8am this morning, we suspect a routine GDPR clean-up script caused all the user data in the forums to be deleted. This resulted in the forum user name also being removed which caused a failure to the forums.

We restored all the data at 14:50 back to how it was at 8am for profiles and user names, so all should be working as normal now.

We are currently investigating the cause of this deletion, but it wasn't caused by any outside compromise to the system, and looks to be a internal process issue.

Sorry for the outage this morning - please let us know if you are seeing anything out of the ordinary! We're continuing to work on improving processes, monitoring and performance of the forums as we take over from Haymarket, so thank you to all that got in touch and let us know what was going on on their end and reported any bugs that slipped through while we were still restoring the forums. smile

Just to let you know in addition to everything else that your error page leaks your internal IP addresses (presumably for debugging). You shouldn't be doing this.

Another note. I just replied to a thread and it revealed to me the OP's email address (As he signed up to be alerted of replies)

Quite a big GDPR issue.

One of the debug servers was put back into the load balancer before it was taken out of debug mode - this is now sorted.

This may have been down to Pete removing some stuff we don't need...

We are working our way through the slow running scripts across the site as we transition tech from Haymarket - sorry it isn't as fast as you all would like but we have taken off Outbrain, removed Tealium (a tag manager which put a lot of JavaScript on the pages), and removed some of the header bidders so far.

Lots to do still...

The link "Pistonheads Buying Guides" from the Chim and Griff forums "Browse the Classifieds" page is not working for me.
The page loads but altering any preferences from "Newest with Images first" for example will not re-load, just spots circling.

Can you fix it?

Cheers
cool

Thanks for this Lance - it's an issue we're aware of, but while we build up our dev team and move from Haymarket's tech we're having to prioritise! It's on the list of fixes though smile
