Anybody else started having this problem? Just recently I'm getting annoying Google adverts blocking the text on the forums. It's always half way down on each page, one ad on the right hand side. Clicking the 'X' removes the ad but I'm left with a blank square box that still obliterates the text underneath. Anybody help?

Just install an ad blocker.
Serves the website right if they want you to read their site and obscure it with ads.

Can you recommend one? I'm using an ancient iPad.

Not quite sure why this has moved to Website Feedback but hey ho.

If you have the technical ability then a Pi-Hole on your network with your router pointed to it for DNS will ad-block for everything on your home network. Set up once and leave it be, no need to install blockers on each device. Can update the blacklist periodically if you want to.

Get a raspberry Pi from The Pi Hut (plenty of other suppliers)

Setup instructions here https://www.smarthomebeginner.com/pi-hole-setup-gu...

An alternative that someone on here pointed out recently that I was unaware of is to point your router DNS to Adbock. Not tried it myself as I have a Pi-Hole but, assuming it works, it has a big advantage of being completely free. https://adguard.com/en/adguard-dns/overview.html

That's exactly what I'm getting! I can't download any apps as my iPad is too ancient.

Whereas I see (sorry, know that doesn't really help by maybe you can read it all now). It's odd that mine wraps around the space where the ad would be where yours goes behind - Mine is also on Safari but on a Mac rather than an iPad

Thanks for that. I sometimes use my Android phone and don't have any issues. Must by an (old) iPad thing.

I have the same issue too, and it is infuriating. I have found the best way to read the post is to press the quote button, read it in the 'reply to topic' box, then go back.

(Unless its a corona virus post from V6 of course, in which case the advert is a god-send.)

Good tip. I'll try that!

Try pressing the reader view to see if it helps

Your EVEZY ad on the Buy screens keeps overlapping the text on the adverts meaning you can’t read the advert headers. Pain the the proverbial.

Check out the Raspberry Pi Hole.
Odd name but it's a $30 Raspberry Pi connected to your router, so it only works if you are on your own wi-fi network. I have a Roku box which streams YouTube and hundreds of other free channels. Completely blocks all ads on the Roku, my desktop, laptop and the wife's Amazon Kindle.
