An idea to reward helpful contributors
Discussion
Reward scheme linked to posts/responses
Let's say someone creates a thread to discuss an issue and someone else responds with a solution that works. A 'thank you' button next to the respondent's user name could be clicked on, with each click going toward a discount scheme. When a certain threshold is met, a discount code is generated, which can be used against any manufacturer, retailer or supplier who is currently advertising with CarGurus/PH.
What do you think?

I have advised a few people on property development matters. One very kindly did some detective work and sent me a selection of malt whiskey's
It was a very kind and completely unexpected thing to do.
I don't really expect reward for providing advice on ph, just people to repond with advice when I ask questions like "how the heck do you get to that sparkplug/fuelpump/stupid captive nut"

Just a simple "like" button would be a good start, and would save a lot of space as people wouldn't have to quote posts (sometimes including *all* the photos) just to say they like or agree with something.
It's weird, I used to despise the whole concept of the Facebook "Like" button, but I do think it would be useful on this forum.

I'm not saying we'll be adding like buttons or avatars – but I'm definitely keen to reward people for posting, length of time on site, adding cars to My Garage, posting links to the PH classifieds, etc.
We're very conscious that a lot of members aren't keen on signatures and the rest, so if we were to launch anything like this, then we'd definitely get some feedback first.

If you want users to add cars and details to 'My Garage' you may like to fix it first. We're very conscious that a lot of members aren't keen on signatures and the rest, so if we were to launch anything like this, then we'd definitely get some feedback first.
I used to keep it up to date with every service, upgrade and tyre - but the layout's been screwed for years.
E.g. click.
It's not about like buttons you bloody iddiuts, it's about paying something back to a helpful PHer by way of a discount award!
All you'd be doing is saying thanks by way of clicking a thanks button, if the solution offered by the contributor works. PH gets good quality content and someone eventually gets offered discount.
If you don't like it, don't engage, don't use a thanks button, and don't use any discount codes.
So if this does get put into action, will I now be seen as the guy who RUINED pistonheads? Nice one, thanks.
