A thread being stopped / comment deleted by moderators for “naming and shaming”?

Reason for the title is that I have been recently defrauded by a car broker who helps people buy at auction. FCA regulated, long established but all of a sudden has started to rip multiple people off, multiple Trust Pilot reviews confirm. Literally takes your money, pretends to buy your car at auction, fails to deliver the car and then makes every excuse under the sun over refunding you your money.

I commented on a post about said broker and the comment was deleted and thread closed.

I fully understand that we can’t have unsubstantiated / liable inducing comments flying around, however when it’s black and white surely we have a duty to protect our fellow car enthusiast.

I know moderating is a thankless task that is hard to get right, I just don’t want others to suffer the financial and emotional pain i and others have.

As frustrating as it is for all of us, we simply cannot have content in the forums that could cause reputational damage to a personal or business, even if they are fraudulent.

While it doesn't help answer your question, this is pretty standard practice on large forum platforms. MoneySavingExpert have a process whereby you personally can be taken to court and be held accountable for substantial legal fees, but that's not a route we want to go down.

I'm sure you're already pursuing this person/business legally or through the police, so hopefully they just get shut down and held accountable for their actions so that they can't do the same to anyone else.
