Here's an interesting little bug.

1. Make a post in which you create an implied url by typing an address (complete with http) as free text.

2. Edit the post. Notice that the GS code has turned that into a proper [url] pair.

3. Edit it again. Notice that the [url] has now been turned into a raw html anchor tag.

4. This post now fails to display properly.

It would seem it also happens when people quote other people quoting other people who created a URL this way.

Yep, I'm halfway through a solution. I want to solve it with some new code rather than patching the old system.

Indidentally I was reading up on Slashdot's moderating scheme this evening. I can see where you're coming from now. Their's is particularly complicated but elements of it could be of use.
