Looking for DB9 Volantes...
Select 'Aston Martin' - great - there are 773 of them.
Now let's whittle it down to DB9s . Err... can't see DB9 anywhere. Scroll down to bottom of page, nope. Back up to top, nope.
Aha maybe I type it into the Search box! Type in 'DB9 Volante' and hit Enter. Nothing happens.
I have a choice of 'Clear' or 'View more' (ie the next page of 773).
The only other option is 'Back'. But that will take me back to the list of makes won't it. Oh actually it doesn't - clicking 'Back' actually takes me forward to the next step.
Who designed this?!

As we allow users to select multiple makes rather than just one, it doesn't automatically take you to model. So once you've selected your makes, you need to click back in the top left corner to show the rest of the filters (or show results if on mobile).
This will then enable you to use the Models filter to select DB9 Volante.

Can you get rid of the requirement of entering a post code? I don't live in the UK any more but I like to see what TVRs are for sale.
Some of our functionality is tied to postcode, so it isn't something we can remove I'm afraid as the classifieds wouldn't work without it.We do have an example postcode in the field though for this very reason, so you could use that (NN12 8TN) for a search. 10 PH points to anyone that knows the location of that little easter egg without looking it up...
I'm glad I'm not the only one irritated by this. It's a pain having to go "Back" to select a model after you've selected the make.
Also, ages ago I suggested that it should be a required field for sellers to say whether a car was left or right hand drive so this could be filtered in a search. The suggestion was acknowledged, but the feature still hasn't been added.
And... I find the vehicle description is very hard to read. In many cases it's all one massive block of text with no paragraph breaks and often the colour of the car isn't even mentioned. OK, I can see from the photos that a BMW is black, but is it Black Sapphire or Carbon Black? And is the interior Oyster or an over-exposed photo of Cashmere Beige? The descriptions - even the ones provided by main dealers - are lousy as far as the basics are concerned. Surely it wouldn't be too hard to ensure that the form on the seller side nudged them in the direction of providing the correct exterior and interior colours, rather than just relying on them to include it in the description, which they never seem to bother doing.

Interior colours would be extremely handy and save much wasted clicking. I suggested it to Autotrader years ago, but evidently they weren't that bothered. As for the main colour, yes, it seem most dealers prefer to ramble on for half a page about ULEZ and Isofix than fundamental things like 'What ***ing colour is it?!' That appears last, if at all.

Silverstone? Mercedes F1?

As per Matt's post above, we're looking to update this so that you can click on a make and be taken straight to model (unless you use the tick box to select multiple makes). Also, ages ago I suggested that it should be a required field for sellers to say whether a car was left or right hand drive so this could be filtered in a search. The majority of adverts on PH are listed through feeds, rather than being manually created. Matt will correct me when he's back next week, but I believe most feeds only have very basic data when it comes to colours, so sadly having the exact OEM specific colour won't be possible unless the seller adds it into the description.
The big blocks of text are also out of our control as this is simply how the seller is choosing to create their description, rather than breaking it down into more digestible sentences/lists.
Following a post I made about the changes that have been made, I've received 2 replies from the PistonHeads team and them my post was blocked. So clearly you do not want users to be able to provide feedback
I've tried it again today and it is still very poor to use. It was vastly superior previously.
To use the example that I gave in my posting, I've again tried to search for Lotus and look for Esprit. It can only get it to list ALL Lotus cars and CAN NOT make it search for just Esprit.
Also some makes do not appear, i.e. MG

I have just clicked on Esprit and found 12 cars for sale. Took me all of 20 seconds if that.I've tried it again today and it is still very poor to use. It was vastly superior previously.

Sorry to hear that you're continuing to have issues. Can you help us reproduce the problem so we can investigate please? Any links/screenshots/steps you can provide will be very helpful.I've tried it again today and it is still very poor to use. It was vastly superior previously.
