Within threads such as the long running 'aftershave' thread, are we allowed to offer low value swaps to each other without breaking the rules? No money changing hands and not a sale. Just people swapping one bottle of aftershave with someone else's.

It has been done a couple of times and everyone was happy, and it adds a bit of fun to the thread and is useful to the contributors, but I just wanted to check it was actually allowed before anyone does it again.

Thanks in advance smile

Depends on how strict rule 17e is applied!!

For example Vehicles wanted threads of any description is an obvious no no but Parts wanted threads/posts will be allowed at the discretion of PH.

So you'd think that swapping a bottle of aftershave would at least be discretionary? It's not as though PH is losing any revenue.

Sometimes it's just better not to ask the question wink

Better/easier to apologise afterwards than seek permission before?

Too late for that now!

Posting rule 17e: Swap threads in any form are not permitted in the forums.

It’s not a ‘swap thread’ though. It’s the occasional swap in a long running discussion thread. As mentioned, it doesn’t lose PH anything.

I mean, we could put our aftershaves for sale in the ‘non motoring’ section of the sales area, where absolutely no one would see it.
Anyway, I do not wish to fall foul of the rules, so it would be handy if PH could say either way if we could do our swaps of aftershave, within that thread, and that thread alone smile

As above I'm afraid we don't allow swaps, whether it be dedicated threads or within existing threads.

I can't find it now, but didn't there used to be a free stuff section? If so both parties could place the item on there.

Only for car related items, certainly not aftershave. smile

I just used "non-motoring - miscellaneous - other" category within Classifieds to sell some aftershave to another member. I presumed that was fine and a perfect use for the 'miscellaneous' category. I did note there were old sofas and all kinds of things already advertised!
