They really mess up the index formatting, especially when the topic starter with too many characters in their name comments on their own thread.

This possibly should be in the "Things That Annoy You..." thread. irked

Can you share an example of poor formatting please? We truncate a username to 16 characters which should prevent any iffy formatting, but please share any examples on this thread so we can take a look.

We are unable to reduce the the number of characters for existing usernames, so rely of formatting fixes where they're causing issues.

Should the forum truncate usernames on all pages? This is Pie & Piston index for me at the moment - stupidly long username wastes space as other columns have to wrap.

It tends to be worse when the poster starts a thread and then responds to the thread or to another so it appears on page in both author and last contributor columns messing up the page.

Is it just me, or has someone had a half hearted go at 'fixing' this and just caused a mess in both desktop and mobile modes?

Seems that lots of slightly longer names are now truncating with ... which is a readability problem in itself especially when it trys to cut at ~10 characters, but they've also somehow done it in a way that isn't reliable in deciding at what string length it'll truncate so the actual number of characters can vary wildly.
