Hi,
This may sound dumb but how do you seach on PH. I use the search button (next to My Stuff) and it brings up a load of sponsored ads which looks like its sponsored by google not using strictly a search function from within the forum. Is there a standard forum search facility (similar to the one you find on all other forums?).

Thanks

Really really wouldn’t waste your time. The search function on here is worse than pony. It’s been this way for years unfortunately.

The search function is Google.
The first few results are Google sponsored, scroll down for the PH results.

Yep, don’t use the search function on here. I find the best way to search is type into Google the subject you’re after, for example “frozen sausages” and then type “Pistonheads” after it. Works quite well.

Can’t see much difference between the two (unsurprising as the PH search is Google search).

The search box doesn’t even appear on Safari on iPad. (It does on Chrome and Firefox)

I said the search box, when I click on search I get just this - no box to enter text

Edit. - just realised it is because I have ad blocker activated

Search used to work every well on here.

It's been booked for many years now unfortunately.

If that's to do with the expansion of the site I'm unsure.

Our old in-house search was pretty tired and wasn't actually working that well, so we shelved it in favour of using Google to power it.

Google search works well; though only for the forums where search engine indexing is allowed.

I always think it seems alright. Not sure why people don’t like it.
