Suspension for “promotion marketing or charity”

I was speaking to another PHer yesterday, who says that he is suspended for the above, or something similar. He has had no explanation.

The chap in question doesn’t know what promotion is, a market is where he buys his clothes and he is possibly the most uncharitable git I’ve ever met. That aside, I would be surprised if he had done anything to warrant a suspension.

I gather that PH has declined to respond to his emails.

I might also mention that the exact same thing happened to me a few months back and I wasn’t guilty of any of that either. I too received no explanation and PH would not respond to emails.

Is there some malevolent moderator at PH Towers who randomly suspends innocent posters out of some sort of megalomaniacal power trip? I think we should know.

That can't be right, apparently if suspended, members receive an email stating the reason or rule break.

I suspect that the rule infringement may not have been 'Advertising, promotion or charity post'. When the email is sent there is a drop down list of reasons and the first reason is 'Advertising...' so it may be that the mod had finger trouble and didn't choose the correct entry from the drop down list.
There is a free text box for the mod to write the reason.

The chap has no idea what he did wrong. If in fact did do something worthy of a suspension surely an accurate explanation is more likely to educate him to not do it again.
