Not sure if this has been posted before, but I have noticed when using FireFox, that when the pop-over adverts activate on a page (for example the Astra VXR one), they will render text-links and keyboard inputs useless on the page...even after the ad has closed or been closed.

This means F5, cursor keys do not work and any link (for example to a thread at the bottom of an article) will no longer work - almost as if the text is rendered but the browser does not detect the focus on the link.

All I can think (without having ANY knowledge of how this type of add works) is that when the ad completes or is closed, Firefox does not remove the layer with the higher z-index, so nothing on the 'main page' is on top.

Have only tested on FireFox (latest builds), so it may be worth checking out IE for this problem as well.

Has to be to do with the z_index of the layer rendering for those ad types.

My personal opinion is that I despise those 'pop-over' ads which seem to be becoming much more common on t'intorweb these days. Much prefer targetted static advertising.

If you have every visited football365, you will know what I mean! That site is so ad-crammed its bordering on un-useable.

No worries - BTW, my comment re: hating the pop-over type of advertising, was nothing against PH. Just my own personal opinion on that method of displaying adverts.

Targetted static works much better IMHO.

As a 'web guy' I have very definite opinions on pop-ups, dynamic window re-sizing, focus-stealing and ads. I am a thrill at parties, I tell ya!

PS - just read the topic at the top of this page. Great to hear that PH provides an income. In this day and age, thats becoming more difficult to do and the more de-sensitised to web ads people get, the harder it is. Nice work

Ok, the VXR ad won't be displayed in Firefox now until it's been fixed.
