Seriously you delete a post where a father is asking this communities members to help his lad out!

I have been here for many many years and been an active member who has both helped and been helped by fellow members with money, health, business, mental health and yes even with cars.

I don’t state that as I believe i have any more rights than others just to point out that the strength of this forum and what keeps me coming back is the way we take care of our own.

So yeah, delete this of you want, ban me if you want just make sure that as you’re doing so you reflect on the state of this Forum if the goodwill and helpfulness of its members disappears.

This wasn’t website feedback.

This was a Lounge post about they way Pistonheads is headed, kindly move back and allow free speech in an active section of the forum. I for one think it would be interesting to see other members views and would be a shame to hide this away!

Sorry, I should have posted to say that I moved this to WF.
It is far more likely to be spotted in here rather than get lost as it falls off the front page in the lounge.

I seen that thread, what an odd thing to delete.

Seems like a lot of topics get locked very quickly - they really that worried about law suits?

For the most part it's already gone way past that point.

Of the few forums I'm active on, this one is certainly quite unique in the way it reacts to its members.

Mods insist they don't routinely monitor posts, but stuff doesn't half move sub-forums very quickly.

I accept what you’re saying but would of like an open chat about what is happening to this site.

I understand we have rules, I just don’t see how sometimes a bit of leeway couldn’t be allowed.

Or even a private email to me saying along the lines of “look we can’t allow this as it breaches the rules and we need to be consistent, we left it up for an hour to help you out but now we need to close it”

Just my twopence.

I agree with you about the majority of this site, but then there are sections which are wonderful. The sneaker thread for instance, people may laugh that it is a load of 40 year old men who should know better, but the other side is that many of us go into draws for each other using our own money to try and but things that someone we have only talked to on the internet wants.

That for me is the Pistonheads I joined.

I hope it is kept alive even if only within certain threads.

I was thread i posted asking people to help my 12 year old lad out by subtto his channel as he wanted 100 subscribers. Thanks to the wonderful people who had a chance to see it it’s gone from 80 subscribers to over 130.

The lad has a smile as wide as a Cheshire cat.

Apparently this was a bad thing to do!

I subscribed too. I thought it was harmless enough, it's not like it was some adult promoting stuff, it's obviously a youngster's site and a bit of fun to get him some subs.

Seems a bit of a "bah, humbug" decision.

Doesn't sound like a bad cause, and certainly isn't in the convention "boosting youtube content for personal gain" category by the sounds of it.

The forum I operate has a member warning system built in, so if you 'moderate' content it's very easy to send a note to the member as to why the change has been effected.

We don't always use it for a simple administrative move to the correct sub area, or removal/merge of a duplicate post, but absolutely always use it if content is removed for whatever reason, be that a post or a thread. Removed content is also always soft deleted, so if after review we feel we made the wrong call, it's quick and easy to reinstate. Equally if in the very slim there is any legal aspects to it, we have fully documentation.

You also then also have a log of any action taken against a member, visible to all modertors, so if there is a trend of minor infractions, it's easy reviewed.

Hmm well that sounds like a good considered approach to moderation, maybe someone from PH should have a word with you as seems a lot better than their blunderbuss approach!

Sorry for the deletion but these thread are always routinely deleted, if we make exceptions then it could just spiral with every member wishing to do the same. if we don't remove such threads then were just accused of being inconsistent.

It's nothing personal, just a routine deletion.

However you require any additional information the please follow the guidelines as laid out in the rule of posting No.23
