Guys - something is seriously amiss. I've been a PH user for ages, nothing's changed at my end.

Please not another 'FAQ' fob off

I get this every time I change page.

Been happening since Sunday.

Doesn't matter if I choose 'agree' 'disagree' or 'more options' it just keeps coming back

W11 PC, Chrome

Same for me on PC at work - not on chromebook at home. It is a pain as waits a split second before greying out the page with the cookies pop-up.

Needs a techy to look at this emerging issue, not JeremyC who just refers to the FAQ which are no help

Quite a serious issue site-wide guys!

Have you tried the process I storyboarded above? It ought to work for you as it did for me.

Thanks, but, it shouldn't be like that.

It should just work.

So, a major fob off from the mods, despite the fact that this isn't working. I use Firefox and allow adds, but still get the privacy message every page I open, or every message I send.
I have to admit this is rubbish and how long before they close down this thread?

Discussing it doesn't help. We just want it to stop. It has started happening on my phone and does it all the time. I used to be able to stop it by disagreeing. That doesn't work anymore.

It doesn't do it on my laptop. So I'll use my laptop instead of my phone and spend considerably less time on PH. Is that the best solution?

Are you saying you've done the process outlined and it didn't work?

Thanks, Craigy, but your process doesn't suit my phone. You won't believe I worked on and with computers from 1985 until I retired in 2019 when I say I don't know the technical expressions for mobile phone malarkey. My phone doesn't respond like the phone in your sequence.

It doesn't do it on my laptop but I'd prefer to PH on my phone. The Privacy note coming up all the time on my phone now is a pain. I don't want to rejig stuff to get rid of it, I would like PH to sort it out but they don't seem to be able to. It's fine. I'll use my considerably less convenient laptop and, as a result, spend less time on PH.

I'll take up crochet or something.

The process I outlined for Canon_Fodder was because he said he was using chrome on a Windows 11 PC -- the screengrabs are from chrome on a Windows 11 PC.

All we're really doing here is clearing out the browser cache (primarily all the cookies it's storing) to the extent that it forces you to log back in afterwards, which cures the issue locally.

As for PH towers fixing this from their end -- of course that should be the case, but this issue has persisted for literally years and the mechanism to permanently solve it either isn't understood or is intractable to implement, so giving people the local workaround is the best available right now.

It doesn't help when jeremyc closes the odd thread with a broken link to the "here's how you fix this" page ( which by the way is here https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... ) -- but it's summer and I'd expect several people are unavailable one way or another. He's probably doing his best.

Sensible stuff.
Thanks again, Craigy, I'll probably work through it when I've recovered my composure.

One of my major failings is the tiz I get myself into when things that should work don't.

It's quite rare that this happens to me either on Iphone or Chromebook. I'm a fanatic for clearing all history on a daily basis !! Maybe that's why?
