All,

I realise why we need to have adverts and pop-ups on PH but these new Vauxhall ones are making my piss boil.

Firstly, the rollover opens whenever I try to move my mouse from one monitor (where PH resides) to my other monitor (where my pretend work resides). It's very difficult to avoid opening the damned thing.

Secondly, the rollover has what looks like a Close hyperlink but is in actual fact another roll-over. I expected the Close hyperlink to actually turn the whole damned thing off!

I've spend the last hour closing windows where the rollover has popped up over the top of another link, resulting in the wrong link being clicked.

Can we not limit these rollovers to a small logo in the title bar?

PLEASE!

Thanks,

Ian A.

Speaking as it were in loco parentis, Ted is now away at Eurohoon and won't be back for 10 days, so I'm not sure how much can be done in his absence, as he holds the keys to the technical cupboard...

I'll second that. They are extremely annoying and open up on every new page I open in PH!

Please get rid of them! I'm sure other PH'ers will agree!

Ta!

IE 6.0 on Win XP SP2 with AutoUpdates applied daily.

The main issue is the size and placement of the rollover. As I mentioned, I have two monitors and due to the rollover being a side panel, I ALWAYS roll-over it when moving the mouse from one monitor to another.

If I am moving the mouse to click on a hyperlink in the PH window, I actually end up clicking on the rapidly expanding rollover ad which then brings up a new window about some poxy Astra.

Not only that, there's no way of explaining to the roll-over that I do not want to buy an Astra, have never wanted to buy an Astra and do not intend to buy a frotting Astra in the forseeable future and as such, would the nice roll-over ad please f-off and leave me alone!

If you could remove the roll-over part, it would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Ian A.

Ian,

I can't alter the creative, but I am concerned that you're seeing it more than a couple of times each day.

Cookies should be preventing you seeing it multiple times.

Ted,

Do you mean it should only appear on a single page (i.e. navigating to a different page should load a different advert) or that it should only roll-over once?

If it's the former, it may actually only appear on a single page but if that is a page that contains several hyperlinks, I tend to open the hyperlinks in a new window. If this is so, presumably I can navigate away from the affected page and then navigate back to get the same page which will show a different advert?

Cheers,

Ian.

What I mean is that adverts are selected from a pool of ads and one of the things that determines what is shown to you is whether you've seen it previously that day (or session).

So you should get the VXR ad appearing on more than a couple of different pages each session.

The campaign should be drawing to a close soon too.

Um, should there be a "not" in the 2nd paragraph?

Anyway, as I say, I probably do only get it on a couple of pages per visit to PH. It's just that those pages are the ones that contain lots of links.

If the campaign is ending soon, I'm sure we can live with it. Hopefully this will mean an end to the pseudo articles in Evo magazine as well!

I went in to a major Vauxhall dealer to look at a Monaro. Thanks to PH, I knew more than the dealers did (yes there definately is a 6-litre engine coming soon, it's the LS2 out of a Corvette - duh what's a Corvette?). They could not offer me a test drive either. Perhaps Vauxhall should back up the advertising with more baboon training.
