Is there an ignore members posts option? I seem to recall some forums had the option you could choose not to see any posts by particular members.

No. You just have to do it yourself!

You are not obliged to read any posts by posters you wish to ignore, simple really.

Agreed, but the spam generated by some posters makes threads quite messy and a chore to read.

Adding the function to the forum would take less effort than the above.

If you think a poster is spamming/breaking rules, use the report button.

Didn't someone write a Firefox plugin to do this?

Don’t want echo chambers so just scroll on if you’ve taken a dislike to a member.

If they’re trolling or spamming threads then just report it but this is an open forum so don’t be surprised if some don’t agree with you!

And for the times they are not?

Is there an actual reason it can't be implemented? (time/budget/skill)? Or is it just preference?

The flipside of not having an ignore button to prevent echo chambers is pages and pages of back and forth between members who push each other to more and more extreme view points until the thread is locked. Probably as bad as an echo chamber, tbh.

Having an ignore function would probably make places like NP&E a happier ecosystem. Anyone who chooses not to ignore members will still see both sides of the argument without the tit-for-tats.

Thanks for the replies. I dont post much as you can see but do enjoy reading lots of threads, particularly F1. It would be nice to automatically skip over some of the posts in that area rather than have to read a bit first.

There's a plugin/extension for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, and Opera, Tampermonkey, that will do this.

And then you need the script shared by B'stard Child here.

Unfortunately that is beyond me, I need a simple ignore button. It is a shame the F1 threads get full of so much nonsense.
