Mass Nested Quoting

Now that the wes have (unfortunately) been resolved, can the mods now get their minds out of the gutter & look in to prodding that one part-time Dev to tweak nested quoting, so it is easier to make out who said what . . .

It used to be fine, then at the last facelift they made the quotes look vaguely like speechbubbles and it worked about as well as all the other tweaks, only the other st tweaks were tweaked until they were mostly not st whereas the bubble quotes have hung around like a persistent eggy fart in the toilet.

Removing the "quote all" button completely would do it. I'm sure they can find a dev capable of that one.

Really not seeing the issue here.. in many cases the "quote all" is key to understanding context of the quoted post

Yes, it can end up taking a lot of screen space when yiu get multiple quote alla, but this is better in my mind than not being able to quote all when needed

Quote and Quote all is not really the issue. The issue is the nested bubble type thing. I hated this since it started years ago and still do especially when the post gets lengthy! There are many times that my brain just can't compute.

Could a mod or anybody find (i'm useless using the 'way back machine') a good example of the old method we used to use?

It would be useful for people to compare and maybe understand the issue.

Two alternating colours were used & visibly, you could then differentiate quite easily who said what - if i recall correctly.

Unfortunately - the "quote all" is actually very useful when PH'rs put their reply before the quoted section - the std "quote" thing doesn't work so well then but "quote all" does

Yes that's about all I can remember of how it looked. I think at the time it was 'hailed' as purely a cosmetic thing to modernise what even back then was an old school looking forum - It looks neater but doesn't work!
