Was it during the nightly shut down for maintenance? Mine never seems to log off if I leave it running in the background.

Mine doesnt log off when left on all day, must have been like said before when it was down for maintenance.

Under Ghostzilla it's once or twice a day, which is a bit of a pain.

Under Firefox and IE it is indeed ages.

I've not yet managed to pin down exactly when: would it be useful for me to try & keep a log?

XP/IE6 too but usually only once a day and as far as I've figgered it, it's when Ted or one of his little helpers runs the daily website update.
It's not a problem for me to log on again though.

I seem to be logged off whenever the daily advert in the new browser window is delivered - for example the RAC ad today (or maybe the advert is delivered as a consequence of me being logged off - who knows!).

You get that advert because you're not logged on. Members don't get popunders.

Can't explain why you in particular are getting logged off on a daily basis though I'm afraid
