Search facility a little slow?

Is there anyway the search facility can be speeded up? it's seems very slow in comparison to other websites I visit

I've been searching for an old post that I remember from a couple of years ago, and it seems like everything before Aug 2004 has disappeared. Is that in an attempt to speed up the search?

Nope, it's all still there. Just depends on relavency, so if there's more relavent stuff that will appear first.

For example in the Ultima forum it says there are 229 pages, however after page 92 there are no posts

Ah, that's a different matter. There are certain date restrictions I have to put on forum paging to stop it having to retrieve the whole database and then throw away the pages it doesn't want. Looks like the parameters for Ultima may not me 'optimum'
