Yes, could we make PH look like every other forum on the internet please.

It's just too clear to read IMO.

and the fact it no doubt costs more than this.(Ted/Haymarket only has to cover the servers as this is all Ted's own work)

The fact its custom allows for a lot more flexibility and intergration - the extra bits of the profile section etc.

Yeah, I agree with everyone else. The forums that are just two plain, unshiny colours, where you simply reply and it's easy to find the forum you want are the best.

vBulletin is a bit crap because it's all bright colours, difficult to read, with big gay avatars and flashing stuff and just urgh.

You avin' a laff?

The single USP of the PH forum is its independance from any other forum design, and I believe its sucess is in no small part due to this.

If you don't like it, not a problem, but I do NOT see it changing - EVER. Ted has worked for lar too long and far too hard for some pressure to use some gay software that includes wanky colour schemes, nobby avatars etc...

As above: have a rofl at your idea

Blimey, some of you are a bit defensive aren't ya?
It was only a (cynical) suggestion.

How about Personal Messaging, ignore lists (ooh boy would they be useful), buddy lists, multiple quoting, quick replies, being taken back to where you came from when you've posted, thread rating, referrals, polls, skins and so on.

Hey ho, no real skin off my nose tbh, (so to speak) just a bit suprised at how defensive some can be with no explanation as to why PH is better than vBulletin.

FWIW I agree about avatars & sigs, some of them can be pathetic.

You can do all of these things.

Believe Ted was looking into the ignore list thing.

Genuine question, how does one send a Personal Message - not an e-mail but a forum generated PM?

If one can then that's great and I can cross it off my list.

Multiple quoting?
How?
Not nested quotes (which I don't like) but choosing and quoting multiple posts in one post of your own?

Being bounced back to the thread automatically after posting?
How?

Like I said, all genuine questions and if they are answerable then fine...but ya gotta ask about how friendly the s/w is around this sort of thing.

Did Ted write the s/w himself, if so then it IS a damn fine job (I know I couldn't do it)
However, why not join the vB fray and let them take care of the updates etc allowing you to concentrate on more productive stuff?

You've never noticed the options, Back to Thread, Back to Forum?

FWIW, the PH forums seem a hell of a lot more accessible than many, where it's often next to impossible to discern content or follow a thread. What's New and My Contributions are features often lacking in other sites. You can ignore forums, threads and pretty soon individual posters maybe as well, which can be useful.

I use a few different forums on the net, and frankly PH is the yardstick that most fail to live up to, for me. It's more like a huge communal blog.

Oh, multiple quoting. Is it really that hard to have two browser sessions open and use cut and paste? It'd be great if a few folk got a bit more savvy with their quoting anyways, and edited what they were quoting to the salient points, instead of quoting entire posts - let alone entire multiple posts. Blimey, that would be a forward!
