I have NO idea why search seems to be so terrible but it would be fantastic if this could be updated somehow.
Something it works for other it doesnt.

Very odd.

Google can often unearth an elusive post as well.

Hi Ted.

I'll get a specific case when I get home.
I've just found that sometimes you can do a search, for example I made a post on sleeping, so I searched for sleep, in the relevant section, and it didnt pop up.

As I said because my post was a bit vauge I'll try and help more when I get back.

I've just tried to search for the Dragon's Den thread which was on the Pie and Piston earlier this week and got "no matches found". It's not an isolated incident, more often than not when I search for threads I *know* exist, it comes back with nothing.

To be honest I find it easier, quicker and more successful to use Google Advanced Search with the scope limited to pistonheads.com.

Doesn't cover recent items though.

The search function hasn't worked for me since before Christmas.

Yeah I've had a few 'No Matches Found' for threads I know exist, and I have ahd to retrace my steps and find it manually.

I've given up searching now. There are threads that i know contain the words i'm searching, but just can't be found. This has happened many times.

Search "Top Gear" as a find phrase in both GG & PP over the last month. I get nothing.

Searching "Top Gear" as a find any word in GG & PP over the last month, returns only 2 threads, Best Barge Bargains? and Flemke - Is this your McLaren? both from GG and both say a last update date of October 2006.

But I know it's in a lot of threads, I've closed enough of them.

I've just tried half a dozen random words that i have used in threads over the past week and get 'no matches found' each time. Maybe it my Firefox browser?

Just been trying to find a thread and gave up, search function is thoroughly broken.

As a specific example search for "diesel" in General Gassing. No hits within the last week. Four hits in the last month and they are all in very old threads (first returned thread started in 2003).

Search for something slightly more obscure such as "battery" in the same forum and you have to go back to a six month search to return any results at all, and any hits appear to end around October last year.

I've just searched for 'Blair' within the Pie & Piston in the last week and only got this one result -

Which is from 2 years ago.
