Slow/no search

This may be a symptom of the same problem as www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=366384&f=24&h=0 and www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=368404&f=24&h=0 but it may not, hence the new thread!
Over the last couple of weeks I have been (intermittently) unable to search the forums. The symptom is that after filling in the search form, no results are returned (I have waited up to 15 mins while I made a cup of tea). If I then stop the page and try to browse the forums I can see the first page but clicking the "Next Page" button causes the site to freeze up again. The only way to restore normal service is to close the browser and restart it. The problem occurs about 80% of the time. The rest of the time everything works fine.
This problem manifests itself both at home (Mac OS 10.4) on Firefox 2 and on Safari, and at work (WinXP Pro SP2) on Firefox 2 and IE7.
