links not working on a mac
Discussion
Some one help me out here please...
In my computer graphics class we use macs. The 'Post Reply' link and the page selection links (the numbers on the corner of the thread) don't work...I'm not sure if this is because of the blocks they have set up, or if it's b/c mac is terrible for web browsing. I need them for a collage on drifting.
It has I.E. 5 Mac edition, and isn't the most current computer you've seen.
P.S. The ads on the home page are in the wrong place too and the new search servers are much better!

I'm presuming you are on some flavour of OSX. Clearly some links are working - you can presumably open topics and start a new topic. I would suspect a corruption in IE (though I'm damned if I know what, where, or how to resolve it). Failing that, it could possibly be some mismatch in the updates to OSX.
Step 1: Restart the machine. It is possible that a corruption has got into the RAM. Unlikely (though I had a similar problem in OS9), but possible.
Step 2: Try Safari, Apple's own browser. IE is not supported, in fact no longer available, for Mac. Open Safari, either from the Dock or the Applications folder. If it's not there, ask the administrators to install it or authorise you to use it. If that works, you can be confident the problem is in IE.
I wouldn't waste time with IE for Mac. You are better off with Safari, or Firefox, or one of the other browsers that others will recommend. Firefox has a tool for importing bookmarks. In Safari, choose help and search for "import Favourites"
Step 3: Perform Software Update (under the Apple Menu). You will need an administrator's password (and therefore the Administrator) to complete any installations, if it's been properly set up. But you can run the original check to see whether there are any updates waiting.
Step 4: Repair Permissions. Go to Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility, Select the disk, then click on Repair Permissions. Repairing Permissions can solve a whole host of niggles.

but it has OS 6 TO 8 ICR right now
Not sure what you mean by this - OS6 dates from about 1990... and i don't know what ICR is either.
To check OS, call up "About This Mac" from the apple menu. Current version is OS 10.4.8 (aka Tiger) but you could be running 10.3.9 (Panther). If the Mac is pre-OSX, the apple is multicoloured rather than the blue of OSX - you would need to select the Finder before "About The Mac" appears.
I would be surprised if a blocking system could be so specific (I presume you are posting from the machine). If it's an OSX machine, try the steps I suggested. If it's pre-OSX, there are some other things to try. But PH should work fine on IE on OS9.
Right, I've just fired up the old machine. PH works fine in Explorer 5.1. So I'd suggest two approaches:
1) Corrupt Prefererences in IE
Go to System Folder/Preferences/Explorer, Make a duplicate copy, then delete the folder. Restart IE and it will create a new set of preferences. Try PH and see whether PH forums work - next page, post reply (which will take you to log in).
If it now works, quit IE. Start adding your old preferences from the duplicate set. (particularly your Favourites folder). After you add each one, try IE and check it hasn't reverted.
If that doesn't work, try and find a copy of IE 5.1 for OS9, and install it from scratch.
2) Try A Different Browser
At Mozilla you should find a version suitable for OS9 (possibly WhamPnet or something similar, there's only one recommended). It takes an age to launch, and is a bit clunky. But it does offer tabbed browsing.
