How about only allowing letters and numbers in login names?

Any other characters mess up the quote system.

No you fool! If LeSarthe&back makes a post and I quote it, it doesn`t get put in a box!

See near the bottom of this thread both Nerv and myself had to change the "&" to "and" for it to work.
