What really boils my p*ss is when people come on here moaning about clogging up the forums with rants like this one. No-one forces you to read them, so if you don't like them why not just click the mouse and move on? Is PH frequented by the posting Mafia or something? Sometimes it's good to get things off your chest, and nothing but a damn good maon will help. You're are not meant to read the rants FFS, they are just there to help diffuse someones anger by turning them for a brief time into the Keyboard Ninja. Things happen in the real world that you can't control, and don't agree with; if you started ranting at the TV or incessantly ranting at your friends and family people would pretty swiftly write you off as either a complete fruitcase or a miserable old git. Or both. Instead you can fire up your PC and rant until the drool collects in pools at your feet - no-one can see, no-one cares. The internet is the greatest listener, and why? Because it doesn't interrupt, it doesn't answer back, it doesn't have a point of view. Well that's the theory anyway, and then some smart*rse comes along. Actually no, several smart*arses come along. Grammar smart*rse will pick up on your misplaces commas (who stops for breath in the middle of a rant anyway FFS); spelling smart*rse will point out the typeos that you knew were there but frankly couldn't give a flying feck about while you were mid vent. Someone will helpfully point out that your rant is a repost - yeah, like you were going to politely check the search facility to see if anyone else had already foamed at the mouth and left their monitor flecked with spittle over the same issue before launching into your litany of bile. Now to top it off someone is suggesting that your stream of conciousness whinging isn't actually that interesting to them - as if you care - and it ought to be confined to some nether region of PH that no-one but the mentally deranged and terminally unhinged would frequent. What's the point of ranting if no-one is going to listen? You might as well shout at the wall, or the telly, or the dog. You might as well just bottle it all up, go about your business, behave like any other totally rational human being until one day you just snap and attack you loved ones with a half eaten roll of digestives. Biscuit anyone? No, they're cakes I think you'll find. Yes, really. Ranting is a great British tradition, like a nice cup of tea. Even Ted feels the need for the odd rant, so us mortals surely can be excused. Did I mention the smart*rses who will pick your rant to pieces then point out how you have contradicted yourself? Yes I did, just then. Ranting isn't about making sense, though often there might be a small seed of logic buried away somewhere in the rant, it's about letting go, getting it out, feeling better. Cheap therapy. It's about admitting you've done this really bad thing, but didn't realize how bad it was until soneone else did it to you, and now you feel guilty and you're overcome with an urge to confess, but your ego won't let you. But most of all it's about posting really, really long paragraphs that no-one will read, unless they don't have a life. IF YOU CAN DO IT IN CAPS THEN ALL THE BETTER - THSI WILL BOIL THE P*SS OF SOME NETIQUETTE FREAK WHO DESERVES A POKE NOW AND THEN ANYWAY. Let's face it, thats the only sort of poke the geeks will get. Still here? Blimey, well done!
Actually, Ranting forum, that's not a bad idea!

i can't fathom why people start threads like this...
"to the driver of a white vauxhall astra merit on the m25 this morning...you are an idiot"
THEY WON'T READ IT YOU MONGS!
and not everyone treats they're time behind the wheel as if it's a red letter day or an instruction session with mark hales. some people just aren't as good at driving
get over it
and yes, this is a semi rant...but the people i'm ranting at will actually read it
peace out

Not a bad idea. PetrolTed's rants were great. How about this:
A "Rant" is a thread in the Ranting Forum. But instead of simply "good/bad" you get to rate it from -5 to +5.
Instead of a listing the threads in "most recently posted to" order list them in order of popularity (just add up the ratings). The best most entertaining rants will rise to the top and make a hilarious archive.
You could either
a) Not allow any replies OR
b) Allow replies and show them in a smaller font or something so as not to detract from the rant itself.
A fine rant is an art form in and of itself.
