The posting window has changed! (actually changed as I was posting)

And it's impossible to use more than 1 dash in a sentence - if I do then the bit in between the dashes gets crossed out - like this!

Any other new features?

Edit: Hang on, this window is back to the way it was - what's going on!? yikes The other one looked a bit more windows-y and all the icons were bunched up with the text on the left underneath the posting window...

I've put the new form live in P&P and General Gassing so far. I'm easing this one in gently!

There's a new parser sitting behind it which gives a lot more formatting options (click the formatting link for some info).

Hence the issue with the hyphens, it sounds like it's confusing the -strikeout- format. I'll look at that now.

More than single quotes don't appear to be working?

Nested quotes end up with the first one as just ... and then the quote code seems to go wrong and you end up with
in the middle of the quotes. Check out http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I'm liking the new posting form. It looks nice and clean and tidy with no huge problems so far (other than my clumsy fingers).

That's a hint of what's to come spin

Once I'm happy that the posting form is behaving properly then we'll start introducing the Wiki functionality. Hopefully Monday/Tuesday next week.

Ah! Looks funky (although I'm ont sure about the icons at the top, but that might just be my archaic 17" CRT hehe )

Edit: is it prioritising smilies OK? I'm sure (:hehesmile used to come out as (hehe ) and I didn't have to put in the extra space as I do on lesser forums wink

It means that people will be able to create topics that behave like a Wikipedia. They are one page articles that anyone (with permission) can edit. We hope to be able to build up buyers guides, guides to race circuits, alternative parts lists, insurance tips etc. etc.
