It is slightly annoying though.

testing it testing it again

So it takes away carriage returns with blank lines too.

"-" another test "-"

Seeing lots of inappropriate strikethrough in posts here too.

Please, Ted. Can we have our hyphens back? Many many people use them as punctuation; they make a very poor code for overstrike.

If it is deliberate then it's a very poor move. Hashes, hyphens, dashes, equals and underscores are legitimate punctuation characters. In fact you NEVER use any unescaped characters for formatting in that way. It will ALWAYS bugger somebody up.

Since you use [b] for bold and [i] for italics why not just use [s] for strikethrough [u] for underline etc. At least they are not things that people will type normally and are obviously intended for formatting.
**this** or -this-
might not be.

Please could you UNbreak it. smile

is it?
While you're at it could you please do the same thing for underscore and any other unescaped formatting characters?

It really would make more sense if ALL formatting commands were consistently of the format [fcmd]text[/fcmd]. That way you'll be as sure as you can be of not buggering up someones post unintentionally.

-Indeed- it did, thanks.

What are your thoughts on the other formatting codes being standardised to
text
?
