Is this slowness only affecting me?
Discussion
For some weeks now I've found PH really annoying to use.
One moment it works like lightning as usual and one click later it takes 30 seconds plus to open a page.
I'm forever writing posts and then submitting only to watch the circler spinning in IE7 for 2 minuts before having to shut the page down and start again.
I thought the recent fixes and new style was going to sort everything but it stil seems very "sticky"
Anyone else got the same?
Greg

I have had the odd moan about this on and off for a good few months now. PH is easily the least responsive website I now visit. When PH has slowed to a crawl or locked completely, I can open Outlook or IE and load other sites pages instantaneously. Submitting a post is one long 'submit' wait ages for nothing to happen, hit 'back' then forwards, resubmit, repeat. Just clicking on stuff to open it can take ages too, so I wander off elsewhere. Many a time I have given up completely and just closed my browser and cleared off.
PistonheadsIT, slow matters.

This happens to me all the time, really frustrating. That and the general feeling that most forums seem to be going downhill at a rapid rate (witness the suicide thread on p&p at the moment) make me wonder why I bother a lot of the time.
I started off (when it was petrolheads) just looking to see if there was any interesting stuff on the TVR/Wedge forum and I seem to be going full circle and going back to that. Too frustrating for much more than that!
A suggestion was made to me that the reason was that the whole site is built around Microsoft servers?

Just now for example, took three minutes and nine seconds (from when I decided to time it) of repeated clicking to get to 'Gassing Station'. Three minutes doesn't sound very long, but its an age for something that is supposed to take about a second. Then to get to 'Website feedback' was about 20 seconds, same to load this topic, and about 10 seconds from post reply to get to this box i'm typing in.
Gonna hit submit now, and see how long.

Is it ever going to be fixed then?
Getting a bit narked with the time outs...

It's found it now, but it took ages. I'm using IE at the moment as that seems (marginally) quicker than FFMr Noble said:
Rather counter productive for the ad payers that they really aggrevate everyone. At best we're supposed to look at them, not get pi55ed off with them destroying the nice surfing experience!

Likewise.
I've no objection at all to ads being there, fair play and all that but I've had some REALLY slow patches lately.
PH Hamster-Masters: would it help if we tried to note page/ad involved or anything?
How ironic! It got stuck leaving this thread, so I thought I'd come back to tell you all, and it stuck again. Then I hit the reply button and it stuck again. It took almost a minute for me to have the Reply to Topic screen.
Maybe Haymarket don't give a toss that it's pissing off the locals.
