In a similar vain to how Porsche 911's were getting with the sheer volume of number of adverts and the subsequent splitting, BMW 3 series are becomming a little silly with circa 40 new adverts a day being listed.

I suggest

Coupe, Saloon, Touring, Convertible & Compact as headings (I think E30, E36, E46 etc may prove a litte confusing for some)

I agree that they are getting slightly swamped with the last count being around 850 adverts for the 3 series. Usually it is easy to split down to specific evolutions or models such as the golf (gti or r32) or for a marque that is better known by it's buyers for the different evolutions such as the Porsche (996, 997 etc). So this is something we need to think about with you guys + girls on how best to split this growing category.

From my thinking there are 5 ways to split this up: Body Type (coupe, saloon, cab etc); Evolution of Model (E30, E36 etc); Engine size (1.8, 2.0, 3.5 etc); Age (88-92, 92-96 etc) - would be similar to Evolution but easier for non experts; Fuel type (Deisel, Petrol, Solar etc)

The model/evolution method has been used as the norm throughout over marques so that would be the ideal for consistency on the site but interesting to hear what other people think.... Answers on a postcard, or below please smile

Any chance that we can clear off the "Sold via Pistonheads" - that'd get rid of a lot I think?

You could have an appendum to the search return saying "We sold 300 BMW 3 Series this week"

Good idea...

We are looking at doing a purge of sold adverts from the site within the next two weeks to clear up the ads.
