Images in classifieds
Discussion
Once I've got to the page of the ad I want to see, I can't open any of the images. When I hover the mouse over the image I want, I get a message at the bottom left of the screen saying javascript:void(0) (Or something very like that..
Not changed any settings etc on the laptop; any idea what the problem is?

I am also experiencing this problem on every classified ad, it happens in both Firefox and IE7. It;s weird because they were working fine this morning at circa 11am and then I couldn't access any pages and a pistonheads holder page went up for a while and then on return I can see all the site but no pictures hosted on pistoheads.
me too.
But some of the ads in the list has photos, the rest just a blue square.
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/list.asp?s=133
2nd ad has piccies none of the rest.
A multiple servers being out of step issue?

Seeing this problem too. How can I window shop when the shutters are down?
Like the quote
A server had a bit of an issue this morning and some of the images for the classifieds are not viewable if connected to it. As this is a massive job (20Gb of images I am loathed to run it during peak times and will setup the recovery in the early hours)
The servers should be load balanced so that when a server is down or is offline for maintenance the site will work fine, it appears that some people are stuck to specific servers and are not being balanced... We are investigating why this is happening.
ETA: The problem with the blank opening of images is something else we are investigating seperate to the server problem earlier today... think I should join CSI with all this investigation work.

glad to see i'm not the only one! i've had similar trouble viewing pics in classifieds too over the last few days!
i have found that the product/services ads at the top of the page can be blamed as when the javascript void message appears, pressing F5 until the page refreshes and a different ad appears can sometimes solve it!
i too, have also noticed the problem whereby if i go to view an ad that has pics in it all i sometimes see is a small clear box with nothing in them. very odd yet rather annoying IMO!

Are we getting anywhere with this problem yet? Had it for ages, trying desperately to find a car to buy today but keep getting this bloody javascript void (0) rubbish whenever I try and enlarge a picture. Tried all the settings on my pc, downloaded a scripting engine from Windows to no avail. The consensus seems to be that the problem is at PH's end.

This was fixed a few weeks back, though not sure with the server problems over the last week something hasn't been undone so will check. The problem is caused by an ad blocker thinking the image is from an advert and thus blocking it, if you have the settings to change it, or allow www.pistonheads.com to serve ads then this will sort it.
If this doesn't help then post an advert that is causing the problem and the setup of your maching (Operating System, Browser and version) and I will look into it.
Hope that helps

Nope, it's still doing it all the time. An example: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/168330.htmIf this doesn't help then post an advert that is causing the problem and the setup of your maching (Operating System, Browser and version) and I will look into it.

can't get it to enlarge any pics at all. In fact no ads work at all.
I'm running Windows XP with IE 6.
Cheers

Some of the problems with the pictures has been associated with McAfee. If you are running it try the following as you can block or unblock ads (which McAfee thinks the pictures are) by doing the following:
Under Common Tasks, click Home.
On the SecurityCenter Home pane, click Internet & Network.
In the Internet & Network information section, click Configure.
On the Internet & Network Configuration pane, click Advanced under Web browsing protection.
On the Ad, Pop-up, & Web Bug Blocking pane, deselect the Block advertisements that appear on Web pages when you browse the Internet check box.
Click OK.
Let me know if that fixes the problem.

Right clicking and selecting open in new window just brings up a not found window.
No Mc.Afee here, only Norton.
Weirdly it seems to come and go. LAst night that ad wouldn't open, tonight it does, tomorrow it probably won't. I have pop ups enabled for this site. I just have no idea and the pc is going out the window soon.
