Hi Guys,

I can understand the reason for the new disclaimer at the bottom of each page but to my eyes it doesn't really fit in with the style of the site.

Is there anyway the text could be made smaller so it matches the text on the posts and put in a box or something.

It looks like a bit of an after thought (which I suppose it is as it's only just appeared).

Apart from that keep up all the good work!

Looking at the terms and conditions of posting I think 90% of them are broken within 5 replies on Pie & Piston.

Can't you just make it a jpg, then we can adblock it?

I don't need to be reminded of common sense.

Sorry about that, the stylesheet updated slightly slower than the page update and thus for a brief second it was larger than we designed.

Though if people see the disclaimer as large can you let me know so I can look at.. along with Browser type.

i think they're hoping to get that down to 3 shortly smile

Oddly enough, the disclaimer is driving me up the wall, could be overriding the CSS on the site but it's tinnny tiny. Perhaps making it the same as a regular post and just tack it on to the final post on every page?

Yes, please make it smaller. It's obtrusive as it is.

[edit] Browser = Safari (3.0.2).

Incidentally, it looks OK with Firefox on the same machine.

Sometimes it's big, sometimes it's small! confused

Do we *really* need it on every page though?

Would a simple "Please read the T&Cs" link not suffice?

Very strange.. all tested here fine before putting live and had no problems.

I have temporarily removed it for the time being, while we look into the stylesheet problems.

Would love to, but the legal department will come and hit me with a large hammer.

ETA: That is temporarily removed while the legal department moan it is too small to read, and you lot say it is too big (though that is down to the browser not refreshing against the live server, and the live stylesheets)

Sorry to say but I think it's another step towards PH looking like all the other forums out there frown Why not have it appear on every 10th served page, or on the first one of every session?

It reminds me of emails I receive from council employess - 2 sentence reply, followed by 30 lines of disclaimer crap rolleyes

ETA: Too small to read? yikesbanghead

Forgive my confusion here but why do we need a disclaimer on every page after the site has been up and running without one for Ted only knows how long?

Because some people are shit scared that someone will say something mildly offensive and sue the site.

Its unnecessary. Just put one warning on the front page of the forums, on the master list for example, and thats that.

Its like those bloody 'no smoking' signs, completely unnecessary.

Time to step in here. A few of you will know that PH has been hit with some major legal threats recently, and it has shown how wide open we were if we ever ended up in court.

Maybe its a sign of the times, but it seems a lot of people think they can get rich quick by threatening PH with legal action.

To save any more sleepless nights I have been chatting with Ted to work out the best way forward. Without these T&C's we won't be protected, and I for one want PH to be here forever in its current form.

I am overseeing all this with Pete and will ensure it is as small and as inobtrusive as possible. Don't forget that I love this site as much as you do, and change hurts. But after weeks dealing with solicitors this really is the only way we can avoid legal action.

It will stay down until we work out the best way of displaying on the site.

Sorry guys, as I say, maybe it's just a sign of the times rolleyes
