Whilst browsing through the classifieds main page, I saw that there was a (1) next to the McLaren F1 title,
bouncebounce
but when I clicked on it it says "sorry, no adverts found matching your criteria". ( frown )

Same story for Maybach, and there is a (4) next to the Merc McLaren SLR when there are only two cars for sale.

I thought the number in brackets was supposed to denote how many of that type are for sale, or am I mistaken??

No, you are correct the brackets usually tell you the number of cars for sale.

You sure? It should be asking for your email address as it knows the recipient's address.

It might be getting confused by the full stop on the end of your email address.

And then it comes up with this.

what CAN it all mean?

Yep, it's asking you for a valid email address - one without a full stop on the end.

I just checked and your profile has it stored with the full stop on the end. That's where it's retrieving it from.

Remove that and all should be well.

Cheers Ted - it's no biggie - just a bit of an anti-climax after I thought there was an F1 for sale and I've got a few hundred thousand burning a hole in my back pocket... whistle
