If you start a quote like this:

someone]This is what they said [but said:
with the word "but" in square brackets.
Then the quoting seems to screw up.

You could remove the [ and ] from the original quote.

I could, but why should I have to? It's a perfectly legitimate character to use.

It is a ligitimate character however it appears the pages use that for formating options like small bold etc

Yes, it's a legitimate character and I can [quite happily] type text in [square] brackets without any effect on other formatting. It's only when they're quoted that the quoting breaks.

I wonder if this has been fixed?

Looks like a no then.

Is there going to be a fix for this?

If a login name ends with % it screws up quoting as well.

Also an apostrophe breaks it too...

We have a list of problems with the parsing, in and out of coding which we will hopefully get on to fixing in the next month.
