Real dumb question re links

Everyone seems t be able to link to previous threads or news items from the media in seconds. How please? Am I missing the glaringly obvious? Looked at the formatting help above but it may as well be written in Russian. As you can tell, I am not a computer wizz.

Have managed a pic in the past though so all may not be lost.
